Travelling can teach - Devesh Ratra

Travelling! It’s what we do when we visit places, have vacation or meat relatives. People have different reasons to travel like for business trips, vacations etc. But I like to travel for different reasons. I travel to know the history, the language and the culture of that place. Many people also like to travel because of these reasons but I like to embrace it and remember it through my life.
Firstly-I get to learn the language of that place.
Spain is a place of people and Spanish. That’s where we went when I was small. My family and I had no trouble reading the airport signs but when we came out we understood nothing. We could not communicate with people nor read the signs around us. So we found a translator called Zale. He had blonde hair, black eyes and a silly but charming laugh. And so our journey started. Zale gave us information about the various places to visit. He told us about the good places to eat and so we went into the cab and left the airport behind us. As we visited different places Zale taught us some Spanish words like ‘Hola’ and ‘Adios’. Eventually we started learning phrases and sentences. When we left for India we tried to do a conversation by ourselves. We failed and succeeded. We failed in pronunciation but succeeded in the words. When I grew older I went to the U.S.A and when I joined school I had to learn Spanish. I conclude that the languages I learn I remember it for the future and for we never know what will come in our future.
Secondly-I get to learn the history of that place.
When I lived in the U.S.A we visited New York City once. As we landed we went straight to the hotel and went to sleep since it was 9:30 in the night. The next morning we had breakfast and then left for the Statue of Liberty. There we were in a port and we went to a ticket counter and bought tickets. We even bought a special type of remote control. It had numbers from ‘0-9’ and a ‘ENTER’ button. It works only by the numbers. If you type in a number and press enter you can hear a voice talking about the area which the number is assigned to. We then got on a ferry to ‘Liberty Island’. On the island I learnt about the how the French had a goddess that resembled the Statue. On the tablet it shows the freedom date of the U.S.A and under the legs are chains. This entire statue’s parts put together is a sign of freedom. When I came back home we had to write about our holidays and so I wrote about ‘Liberty Island’. I remembered about my trip to the island and I wrote about it in my paper.
Lastly-I get to learn about the culture of that place.
I like to know the culture because we never know when we might insult them like asking Muslims to drink wine or asking Hindus to eat beef. This helps me understand them and be a better friend to them.
From these stories I conclude that travelling is a fun thing to do and people have many, many, many reasons to go travelling. What I have shown you are my main three reasons of why I like to travel.
THE END!
