Breakfast is an important meal of the day - Riddhi Gupta

Many people don’t realize that skipping breakfast is not beneficial, but I have learnt that eating breakfast is important to remain energetic throughout the day. I am not one of those who skip breakfast but strongly believe that breakfast is an important meal of our day. Too much or very heavy breakfast can make a person obese but that is just not an excuse to skip it! Breakfast is important because it is the most satiating meal of the day, it immediately raises the energy level of the body. And finally, it impacts how we perform physically and mentally through the day.
Firstly, not having a satiating breakfast can turn a beautiful day into a dreary one. There was a time when my friend told me that she eats only cornflakes for breakfast. I was concerned about her and so shared with her about a workshop I had attended on ‘Eating Right’. They explained, “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper!” I suggested that she eats a heavier meal because breakfast is supposed to be the heaviest meal of the day, lunch is supposed to be medium and dinner is eventually supposed to be the lightest. She turned around and blurted, “How about you telling me what I should have.” She was very angry. I managed to calm her down and explained that cornflakes are too light to start a day. One may add some nuts, dry fruits, milk, fresh fruits to cornflakes to make it a crunchy, wholesome and satiating meal. She learned that breakfast is the most satiating meal.
Secondly, breakfast raises the energy level of our body. There was a time when my mom and I woke up pretty early. We had lots of fun. When it was time for breakfast, my mom didn’t know what to make! I suggested she could make stuffed parathas. After I had the meal, I was very active. I wasn’t sleepy anymore. I played, danced and had lots of fun. My dad took us to a beach with sparkling blue water. We had juicy, red watermelons along with a tasty mango shake. We did lots and lots of shopping. I took an ice cream which gave me a sudden brain freeze. We ended our trip by going to my favourite water rides. The water felt really cool against my skin. My parents were really delighted to see me happy and joyful. There was not a sign of tiredness in my eyes. We ended our day happily. I myself felt that I was not stressed at all! I remained very happy compared to those days where I mistakenly missed out my breakfast. No wonder! I am so convinced that breakfast is the king of all meals.
Lastly, breakfast impacts how we perform physically and mentally. There was a time when I was sitting in the dining hall upset. My friend asked me what the problem was. I told her, “My stomach is hurting and what should I do?” She told me that you should have breakfast! I didn’t want to have any food. Since, I wasn’t hungry. My friend shouted “Do you know how important it is to have breakfast?” I was an empty headed person earlier, (if one talk’s about breakfast) she explained “there has to be breakfast, which gives you energy to help you in performing better physically as well as mentally. So, you should have a proper breakfast.” (It is really important) One may find this stuff really boring but trust me, it is really, very important to stay healthy, live healthy. I myself realized (for the first time) that eating breakfast is important to perform better physically and mentally.
To conclude, eating healthy breakfast gives jumpstart to our day. Just like, on a cloudy day with no sun we feel unstimulating and ponderous. Similarly, without having breakfast we lack in vigour and strength.
