A true friend will always help you - Diya Varma

I am the kind of person that believes a true friend will always help you when you are hurt, emotional or when you can’t understand how to do something. After all, “A true friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”
Firstly, I believe that a true friend will help you when you are hurt.
I remember when we were on the outbound trip; I was feeling too vain to wear a jacket, going against the rules given by the instructor. I now had to face the consequences. I had a bad, bad cold .I reached for my handkerchief to blow my nose and when I was putting it back into my suitcase, I noticed something odd. My handkerchief was red, when the actual color was white! I felt faint. I told my friend Cheshana. “What?!!” she screamed. “No, chillax! It’s really not a big deal!” I tried calming Cheshana down. Of course, she didn’t listen to me, as always. “Really not a BIG DEAL?!” Cheshana screamed into my ear. “You are coming with me to the nurse… RIGHT NOW!!!” I sighed. When Cheshana tells me to do something, I just have to do it or she will turn into a mini Godzilla!!
Even though it was dark outside, Cheshana seemed to know where she was going. How? Well, there was a big red cross on top of the medical tent. She pulled me towards this tent and literally pushed me inside. In the tent, I saw a doctor. He seemed friendly… I told him “Sir, my nose is bleeding.” He smiled and told me everything was fine. He said, “Go back to your tent, take rest; everything will be fine in the morning.” “Ok.” I replied. I didn’t want to argue. I don’t know why, though.
I knew that Cheshana knew I was going to hate her for this, but that’s what friends are for. Because, “Friends are the siblings god ever gave us”

Secondly, I believe that a friend will help you when you are feeling emotional.
Once, during exams, I, Sara, Kiara, and Khayaal were staying back in school to “study”. We were absentmindedly walking on the field when Sara spotted Khayaal. I really didn’t want Khayaal hanging out with us. I mean, she was a distant friend and this was supposed to be my time with close friends. Sara ran to Khayaal and asked if she wanted to hang out with us. I winced. Why did Sara have to say that??
Khayaal and Sara decided to go to the library and me and Kiara followed. What choice did we have?
Sara pushed me away or ignored me whenever I tried talking to her. I got so angry; steam was probably coming out of my ears. How could my best friend just ignore me like that? Why would she?
I ran downstairs and sat on a nearby bench on the courtyard. I buried my heed inside my sweater and started to cry uncontrollably. All of a sudden I felt Kiara’s hand on my shoulder. How did I know it was her? I didn’t until she spoke. “Diya, are you ok??” “Yes, I’m fine.” I said between tears. Kiara stayed beside me until I stopped crying. We decided to get some food. Namely, pasta with tomato sauce. Kiara stayed by me the whole day. Sara came and said sorry, and so did I. we were finally friends again!!Kiara is really a true friend and I love her with all my heart.

Thirdly, I believe a true friend will help you when you can’t understand how to do something.
I remember the time we had to write an essay in English and I wasn’t exactly paying attention. When Ritiwika ma’am dispersed us from the rug spot, I was scared. What will I do?? I whispered to Arushi to try and ask her what to do, but Ritiwika ma’am told me to be quiet.
After a while, I was sick of pretending to write. Then I got hit in the face with a paper ball. Literally. I was outrageous! ‘OWWW!!’ I thought. I didn’t want ma’am to scream at me so I kept quiet. The paper ball was actually a note. It was from Arushi. I opened it up. She had explained what we needed to do. ‘Thank you!’ I mouthed to Arushi. She gave a thumbs up sign.

This concludes my statement that a true friend will always help you because, “if you are a man without friends, you are a man without reason.”
