The Last Possible Moment - Sara Hinduja

The word ' procrastinator'  may seem scary , but the definition of the word is pretty easy to understand . It means someone who likes to put off, something they have to do till the last minute , and sometimes ……. okay most of the time- I procrastinate . Here are a few incidents in my life in which I have procrastinated.
Chores , most of us do them , either at home or at school , or even both. I have an interesting relationship with chores. I tend to do them at the last possible moment every time !
Once, my mom had promised me Rs 60 to water the plants  by 6:30! Now- usually when my mom asks me to do something I do it , but today was my brother's turn to water the plants. But, as usual, he forgot and went to the movies with his friends . It was now 2:00 pm , and I had no idea what to do! I was bored out of my mind ! So I decided to watch a movie instead of watering the plants. As the movie was half-way through , I started to fall asleep , and before I knew it , it was 5:30 pm! I panicked.  I decided to go and water the plants , but I could not find the bucket to fill the water . When I went to my room to look for the bucket , instead I found myself watching YouTube videos , and now it was 6:15 pm ! I rushed downstairs . As soon as I saw the clock in my room. I grabbed a jug from the guest bathroom in my house and started to pour water in the jug, when- by accident , I jerked my hand and the freezing cold water fell all over me !
I took this memory to heart, and I will try not to make a mistake like this again.
Secondly , I tend to procrastinate when having a difficult project due .
Ah, projects , no matter how much time I have to complete them I always do them as late as possible!
Once , on an idle , lazy Friday , I had just received news that I had a math project due on the coming Monday ! I decided that the math project shouldn't be hard , so I did only the first part of the project and figured the rest would be easy. I decided to take Saturday as a work free day. As Saturday flew by, Sunday arrived. I took a look at what I had to do that was left for the math project , and realized that the first half was the easy part ! What was remaining took the entire night to finish. The next day at school I could barely keep my eyes open  because I had stayed up all night finishing the math project.
When I recall this horrible memory, and see how I procrastinated ,  I dare not wish it on anyone.
Finally, my strangest memory incident of procrastinating is the following memory. You know what they say, save the best for last.
It was 3 days till my monthly tests, and I was up to the point in which I was so nervous, all I could think about was tests! ( I was worried that I had not studied enough.) The next day and a half I studied so much, that the only thing I could think about was math sums and the Greek Civilization . I decided I need a few minutes . Those few minutes turned into the rest of the day! I could not remember anything I had studied for !
As I conclude , a quote comes to mind when I think about my memories in which I procrastinated.  "You don’t have to see the whole staircase . Just take the first step " - Martin Luther King . Procrastinating is an easy thing to do  but a hard thing to stop . I hope these stories and this essay helps you  to not make the same mistakes as I have. Hopefully you don’t leave things for the last possible moment!
