My personal essay by Anirudh.Menon

My exams are coming up,and I’m so frustrated,I don’t even know what to
study first. So I had come up with a solution which is : I’m the kind of
person who likes to be calm with my problems when, I am agitated , when
I am in a tight situation and, when I am stuck in a situation.
Today was one of the worst days of my life. I was a nervous wreck
because, I was on my desk, with a maths problem, stuck! In fact, I was so
agitated I couldn’t even add 14 and 12. I tossed my head back and
groaned. I was going anywhere anytime soon. I couldn’t think straight! I
struggled to think or remember anything that could help me finish my
work…. Then it struck me! I sat erect and took a few deep breaths and
calmed my thoughts.I soon realized that I could do my calculations easily.
I just needed to calm down, and I finished m equation in less than a
minute. However that was only one problem and I had 34 more to go! I
tried the same trick, and then, these equations became evermore easy. It
all just clicked, it all just made sense. And before I knew it ,I was
summiting my work.

The thought of math ran a chill up my spine. I had been terrified of my own
teacher! Her ominous glare frightened me. Also her large voice and the
senseless ruckus caused by all the other kids made it hard for me to
concentrate. And there I was trying to figure out this math problem in my
chaotic classroom. “This is so hard !” ,I exclaimed.I groaned in confusion,
I could have almost turned over the whole table in frustration! It was so
hard for me to control my anger, my fist rose and smashed against the
table as if it had a mind of its own. By now I could hardly tell which was
my right hand and which was my left. Soon, this simple problem turned as
hard as finding out if a zebra is black with white stripes or white with black
stripes.
I calmed down and I was able to finish all my work soon.I rejoiced with a
‘yes.’ I had finished my work.

AAAH! It was close to the 2014 December vacation and I had tons of
English homework to finish plus I had to pack up my bag for the
vacation.Thats not all, all my english homework was due the next day.I
needed to do all that work In that day! Just 3 words ran through my head;I
WAS DOOMED!!!!!
I scampered around my house in worry not even thinking that the more I
did that the more I was delayed. I soon realized that and set off on my
work. I was confused at first but soon I did it. Although I was going very
slow, at that rate I wouldn’t even be able to finish half my work before
sleep time. What was I going to do! I gave up all other thoughts and sat
still for a moment. I did my work and at much faster speed than before. I
focused and I completed all my work in 30 minutes flat. all though I had to
pack everything. i realized that now that I calmed down and finish my
homework I had lots of time, and soon I completed all my packing.

This is why I like being
calm with my problems

I am One of 'The Organizers' by Neeharika Shrivastava

My Personal Essay
By-Neeharika Shrivastava 6B

Everybody does not know how it feels to be relaxed and the
sweet pleasure of being organised and not be burdened by
piles of work. Organisation is quality that a person eventually
develops and is not in the person naturally. The ‘Organisers’
are people who enjoy being organised. Well,I think so I am
one of them. I am a kind of person who enjoys to be
organised. I enjoy being organised because being organised
helps me save time, not to lose things and find important
things when I am in hurry.
It all started when my friend had called at 4:00pm and had
asked me to attend her birthday party at 5:00pm. I had exactly
one hour to get ready, take a bath and reach her house. I knew
that my closet would be in a mess and I will have a hard time
looking for my clothes. However, when I opened the closet, I
saw all the clothes were neatly arranged and folded.
I grabbed a jeans and a white top. I quickly took in half an
hour and wore my clothes. I took out my sneakers and started
wearing them. As I was wearing my sneakers, I recalled that I
had folded and arranged my clothes in the previous night. If I
had not done this, then I would have been late for my friend’s
birthday party. This incident taught me that being organized
helped me to save time.
Meanwhile, on the next day, there was an English literature
exam. While I was packing my bag, I opened the ink pen to
check the amount of ink in it. The cartridge had only 1/4th
ink in it. I rushed to the drawer to get the ink bottle.
Surprisingly, it was not there, so I decided to check the bag
too. However, the bottle was not there either. Then I thought
about my cupboard also. I went to the cupboard and saw all
my stationery kept there. I took the ink bottle and filled the
pen with ink. I put the cartridge back and placed the ink pen
inside my pencil box. Then, I put the pencil box inside my
bag, closed the zip and put the bag next to my study table.
When I remembered that the previous night I had arranged
my stationery, in order that I do not lose anything. If I had
not arranged the stationery, then I may have lost the ink
bottle. I realized that when I am organized, I do not lose
anything.
Finally, the current went out, while I was working on the
history presentation on my laptop. The battery was low, and
there was no current in the house. I had just started to work
on the presentation. It was 4:00PM and I had to send the
presentation at 6:00PM. I tried to remember if I had any
power back-up. I went to my cupboard and I started to look
for the power back-ups. All at once I remembered that my
Mom had given me power banks to use when there would be
an emergency. Thankfully, I had charged them the previous
evening. I went to the my study table and connected one of
my power banks to the laptop and started to work on my
presentation. After one and a half hour, I was done with the
presentation. I sent the presentation to my history teacher at
5:30PM. My history teacher responded, “Great work,
Neeharika !” My power banks saved the day !
This gave me an idea that being organized helps me find
important things when I am in a hurry. If I had not kept my
power banks carefully, then I would not have, been able to
send my history presentation on time.
In conclusion, I have realized that the times I am organized, I
tend to do jobs faster, misplace less stuff and can look for
precious possessions when I am in a rush. I love being
organized !

I Like To Surf The Web by Kyran Sinha

Personal Essay

Have you ever wondered whether that I am the kind of person who likes to surf the web when I have free time, when I am sick of doing the same things again and again an when have different ideas from different people. If yes, wow. But if no, then you should read this essay and finally understand. I am pretty sure that many people do not know that I am the kind of person who likes to surf the web.

In my free time, surfing the web is basically my hobby. How do I know that? Read On!!

One reason why I like to surf the web is when I have free time. I have a lot of hats, which means that I have a lot of work do and I hardly have my free time, so it is pretty hard to surf the web. I can only do it in my free time. I also think I really like to be on top of the class and why I like to surf the web for information and education. Once I came across “Khan Academy” and it really helped me.

Next reason why I like to surf the web is when I am sick of doing the same things again & again.

I already know all the answers for a game and all the tactics and codes and powers and stuff like that, then what is the point of playing the game. Cannot understand? Then lets say it in an easier way. I play a game called “Lego Batman” which is a game with codes and secrets. I have finished the game and beaten it. Then next step, repeat the whole goddam thing!!!!

Finally the last reason why I like to surf the web is when I have heard different ideas from different people be it my family, friends & teachers.

I am very curious as a matter of fact, so if I heard something I quickly jump on the computer.  My friends are all about games, action, football, music and movies, things I really am interested in. So when I get ideas I am pretty sure its good.

Now, I hope you have understood why I think I am the kind of person who likes to surf the web.

Thank You!!

I Love My Parents by Karan Joseph

Karan Joseph’s
Personal Essay

Iam the kind of person who loves my parents because they help me when I am down, when I have nothing to do and when I get punished in school. Many people get angry with their parents because they always say “NO” to many things, but they are doing this because they want you to have a better life when you grow up. Even I get angry with my parents, but after that they help me. Do you think I am lying well I have stories to support my reasons. READ ON

I am going to start with:
When I am down

One day in Singapore it was about 5:20 when I was walking to the place where all my friends play football and that's when I heard my friend score a goal, but when I reached, my friend said “Sorry Karan you can’t play” I replied “Why?”He said “You came late” so then after that they started to play and I walked home. When I reached home my mother asked ,“Why are you not playing football?” I replied “My friends said I can’t play because I came late” “Karan come lets go to the place you play football” so then we went and when we reached my friend said “Sorry Uncle Karan can’t play because he came late” my Dad was looking and only saw nine people so he said “There are only nine people playing so you can make Karan go to the team with four people so then my friends said “OK”. After that I realized that I should come early and I thank God for such good parents.

Next we have
They play with me when I have nothing to do:-

It was raining heavily in Singapore and my friends never play in the rain and I can’t play video games on week days, so I was thinking, then I realized that I should play cars with my small brother. But he was sleeping. So I went to my dog Barney, but my dog is a very lazy dog and he was sleeping. I saw my parents doing work and so I didn't go inside their room. My big brother was studying. So I sat on the sofa and was going to fall asleep, when I heard someone say “Karan!”. I thought I was hearing things. But I heard it again. So I went to my parents’ room, but they were not there. So I went to my room and saw ‘Monopoly’ on the ground with three people around it. My father, mother and  older brother. So when I sat down I asked them “I thought you had to do your work”. “We saw you were bored, so we called you”, my mother replied.  So after that day I realized that my parents will do anything for me.

Finally we have:
When I get punished, they stand up for me

I was in school in Singapore eating my food when Aniket, a big bully came up to me and said ‘Karan, I need your food’. I replied “No”. He said I won’t ask you again. So I ran into class hoping Ma’am was inside, but she wasn't. I was scared, so I put my box in my bag. Aniket came to me, but I said “Get back”. He did not listen, so I pushed him, he fell and hit his head on the ground. I was called to the principal’s office where my parents were on one side and Aniket’s parents on the other side. I ran behind my mother. This took about 10 minutes until the Principal said ‘Karan, you have now been kicked out of DPS’. My parents said, “Aniket was asking Karan for food when Karan did not want to give. So please do not kick Karan out.”So the Principal was thinking “Fine, Karan can stay and Aniket, don't be a bully.” Aniket said “Yes Principal sir”. So that is when I realized that my parents love me so much, until they go to heaven.

So now do you believe that I am the kind of person who likes or should I say loves my parents because they help me when I am down, when I have nothing to do and when I get punished in school.

Thank you for reading !!

I Have a Fast Mind by Kabir Hinduja

Kabir Hinduja                                                                                                 Personal Essay 6B
Have you ever wondered why you zoom through homework or why that kid in your class finishes all his class work first…? Their brain must be quite fast…right? Well, I've come to realize that I am the kind of person who has a fast mind, especially when: I have academics (the biggest test of your mind), when I am doing a project (the most fun), and of course…free time.
I am the kind of person who has a fast mind. When I do projects my mind starts thinking…fast. When I do my projects I try to apply the impossible/improbable (outside of the box).
For example, in 5th grade I had a theme project about our family lines and our past three generations lives. We could do a chart, a PPT and the most exciting--a video.
I decided to do a couple of interviews. I chose the most interesting, funny and coolest questions to ask. In fact, I was the only person in my class to do a video. The weird thing is I thought of the entire plan in a matter of seconds. Looking back on this I realize how lucky I am to have a fast mind.
I am the kind of person who has a fast mind. Whenever I have free time I am very imaginative, thinking about my day imagining the weirdest scenarios that could have taken place and keep on asking myself "what if",  "maybe", "could it be" and imagining the chances of those weird scenarios actually taking place. The best part is I can think of many scenarios because my brain processes the information really quickly.
For example, in 6th grade over half my class was absent on the same day and that led me to start thinking about the chances of every single one of my teachers being absent on the same day and in less than a minute I concluded that the chances of that taking place would be 1 in 2000 or 0.05%.
I am the kind of person who has a fast mind. When I am doing academics my brain just clicks. For example in 5th grade there wasn't a single class that went by where my math teacher didn't tell me "show the work" or "right the formula". My math teacher always thought I was lazy in my writing well…that was partly true but the main reason was as soon as I read the question my mind started working on it. I do most or all the work in my head (mentally),write down the answer and immediately move on to the next question. Looking back on this I realize now that being quite fast in the head (mentally) also has its down sides as well as its advantages.
I am the kind of person who has a fast mind and now I hope you believe me! To wrap up, I have a fast mind when I am answering questions, completing projects and when I have spare time.

I really think I am lucky to be born this way.

I’m The Kind of Person who values Organization by Divya Vijay

Written By -Divya Vijay 6b

I’m The Kind of Person who values Organization

Many people don’t know that organization is very important for school life, but  I have come to realize that organization is the key to school life.  That is why I’m the kind of person who values organization because it makes your area look clean ,because I don’t like losing stuff then finding it at the last minute and because it will be easier to find stuff when I need it,I love cleanliness and here is why.

To start with it make your area look clean-
Cleaning your place leaves a good impression on others over you.
One noisy day in class our teacher announced that our class needed to be clean as there was going to be an inspection. Our class was a mess and we had limited time to clean it.I cleaned my place up ,it was very clean, they might be pretty happy with our class. There is no excuse for being organized at all times.
This is giving me the idea that organization is needed to be a good and neat person, this can also be very handy when you’re graduating, and you want to get into a good university, you can’t go on losing stuff at that time.

I also don’t like losing stuff then finding it at the last minute-
I remember the day before my exams had started, there were worksheets scattered  all around,I had so much to study! if it was not for organization I would’nt have got good grades. As I say this I realize that it is important to be thorough with your subject and not having to revise it quickly because of losing it. Actually organization can be the key to good grades.

The last reason of why I like being
organized is that it will be easier to find stuff when I need it -

I have a cupboard just for all my books and school stuff just so it will be easier to find it in my cupboard rather than it lying around my house.

One day i had trouble finding my locker key,
I knew it was very important as almost all my books was stored in my locker.I was searching all around my house, then at the moment I remembered about my cupboard,
with a breath of relief I ran to my cupboard. There crumpled in a corner was my locker key,the important thing about this is that it shows that it’s not that tough to be organized, all you need to do is sacrifice some extra space and remember about it when you need it!

Now to wrap up,the fact that I value organization is very important for me because I have realized that it makes my area look clean, because I can find stuff easier when  I need it and because i don’t like losing stuff then finding it at the last moment.

I hope
           that you
                    have understood
                             how important
it is to me to be ORGANIZED!

I Believe in Praticing by Anurup Kumar

Grade : 6 B

I think I am the kind of person who likes to Practice.
I think I am the kind of person who likes to practice as pratice makes you improve at that field. It helps you stay in touch with that field and it helps you understand that field better.
1.It helps me improve in that field.
It was a day before my Math exam and I was freaking out . I was clueless on Alzebra as I was absent the day it was thought . I was having a lot of pressure on that day . I was pretty sure about all other topics but I just gave a quick glance just in case. After finishing that came Alzebra a topic  I took a while understanding and then practiced a lot of questions and that practice paid off.Thenext dayas I got really good marks. After this I realized that practising your weakness may have you left that weakness as a strength.
2. It helps me stay in touch with that filed:
Just before I went to bat, I had played a few deliveries from my friends. These deliveries has helped me get in touch with the game as before this match I had played match only in bits and peices so these few deliveris had huge benifits on me as they help me score a handy number of runs . After this I realized that pratice can be a confidence booster.
3.It helps me understand that field better
I was planning a few strategies on captaincy which were for cricket match were everyone was doing something or other at least. The match was happening the next day after school and I was exhausted. The next day 8 over match begin . Our team batted first and scored a really good score of 70 runs . I had scored 43 runs and I was almost sure  that we were going to win.During bowling every bowlers was bowling at leg stump and all the fielders were mis fielding and therefore we lost. None of my plans had worked at all and so had to make new plans but it was already too late. There was one match luckliy in which we also we  batted first and scored only 45 to 50 runs in 8 overs which is a terrible score. This match our bowlers and fielders did so well but we had scored really less runs which made us loose the match. After this I realized that match can be won or lost due to many small things also.
Practice can be fund and it can help you achieve your deam. Practice can hel you and me because practice makes perfect
Thank You !!

I an Not all Academics by Anshul Balaji

Personal Essay
Many people don’t know that I’m not all academics; instead I have a burning passion for the sport cricket. Not only do I like playing it, but I am also good at it as I play Under-12 and Under-14 for the school team. So, as you can see, I am the kind of person who likes playing cricket because, it is interesting, enjoyable and because it takes my mind off things. Here are some real life incidents that helped me realize this.
One of the reasons’s I like playing cricket is because it is interesting. I found this out in an Under-12 school cricket match against DPS. In the game, we restricted DPS to a mere 153 and were all confident to win the game. On the first ball, Hasi hit a four and we thought that it was a sign of things to come. Instead on the fifth ball, Hasi’s middle stump was uprooted. In the next over, both Abhilash and Anurup got out. There was some tension in the dugout. Shashank and I restored ten runs to the team before I perished. All of a sudden, the game had turned on its head. We all watched nervously from the dugout. This is exactly why I like cricket; this is exactly how interesting it can get.
Secondly, I like playing cricket because it takes my mind off things. I know this because of another incident that took place about 2 months ago. I used to go to a drama class and at the end of the course we had an exam from the TRINITY COLLEAGE in London. This was a very crucial exam because if you fail it, you cannot continue the course. I was really nervous and I could not sit in one place for more than 5 minutes together. My mom then told me “Go and play some cricket.” So I did as I was told and went and batted for a bit. Every time I played a good shot, my mind would relax a bit. This is how I realized that it takes my mind of things. I was so focused on the ball that I did not even care about the exam.
Lastly, I love cricket because I enjoy playing it. I realized this in an incident that took place only a few weeks ago. I had just been picked for a match against FCA who elected to bat first. After 15 over’s, Ranjan Sir asked me to bowl. I didn’t get any wickets in the first over. In my second over, I bowled two full-tosses which were both caught. On the hat trick ball I bowled a beautiful delivery that got the batsman bowled. Hat trick Hero!!! I was enjoying myself thoroughly. Yash took a fantastic catch the next ball.  Four in four…!!!! I was ripping their middle order apart. On the next ball I bowled a doosra which knocked over his middle stump. I had got five in five. This is how much I enjoy playing cricket.
This made me realize how much I love playing cricket. I also believe that the stories I wrote are good enough to prove that I am the kind of person that likes playing cricket because it is interesting, enjoyable and it takes my mind off things. A bigger realization I made in this is that I am not all academics and how I have a passion for cricket.

I am the type of person who likes to try new things by Advita Singh

PERSONAL ESSAY          ADVITA SINGH 6-B

I am the type of person who likes to try new things

Everyone has an opinion of himself or herself, right? Either you think you’re shy, good or bad at something or you have something else that you like about yourself. I think that I am the type of person who likes to try new things. I know that I could say anything and you would have to believe me- I have no proof. But that’s not the case. I have three true reasons of why I think I’m that type of person:

I see many new things everyday and want to try them;
I am a very adventurous and curious person, and
I like to learn from the experiences that I’ve had.

I know you’re thinking- “where’s the proof there?” “ How am I supposed to believe that?” but I actually do have proof. Here are three true stories about my statement. If you want to believe those or not, is your choice….

“I see many new things everyday and want to try them”

I was visiting a close friend in Bombay, a few years ago, while my parents were back home in Bangalore. This was already a new experience for me, as I had never traveled without my parents before.

One day, my friend’s uncle came over for lunch. “ I’m going fishing later” he said “would you girls like to come?” I immediately got excited and was eager to go, but my friend didn’t seem as thrilled. “Fishing?” she moaned. “How BORING!” Come one, we should try, what if it’s fun?” I asked her. “Trust me, it is anything but fun”, she replied distastefully. “How do you know, have you been fishing before?” I asked her. “Well, no, but come on! Fishing is like the most boring thing EVER!” she said.

Eventually, I persuaded her to agree and we got ready to go fishing. As we got into the boat, my friend started to look more excited.
My friend’s uncle and his fishing buddy, Rajiv showed us the basics of fishing: how to make bait, how to use a fishing rod and where to find the fish. The wait was quite long for the fish to bite, but they eventually felt a tug on the rod and pulled out a fish called Goby. We put the fish back into the water and eventually went back home.

This whole fishing experience made me realize that even the things we think are boring can be fun if you take it the right way, so you must try different things

“I like to learn from experiences that I have had”

In the last summer vacations, I had gone to Patna to meet my grandparents and some family. I love doing this because I get to spend time with my cousins. One day, we were planning to go out for a bit of shopping. My grandparents lived in a small apartment complex that opened into a lane, which led to the main road. Over the past two days, my cousins and I had spotted a litter of about 8-10 puppies at least living outside a shop in the lane near the apartment. We would have gone to meet the pups but we wanted to keep our distance from the mother.

The three of us being animal lovers would watch the puppies everyday (from a distance). So, when we were waiting to get into the car on the lane, my cousin brother, Avi and I decided that we would take a closer look at the puppies.

“This should be enough”, Avi said when we were at a pretty safe distance.

“No, let’s get closer, the mom doesn’t seem to be here anyways”, I said, inching forward. This seemed like a good idea at that time.

“Aaaw…” I said, pointing at a small brown and white pup. “Its adorable!” I squealed. “Yeah, they’re so cute!” Avi replied.
Suddenly more puppies started to come out and bark in their tiny voices.

“Ha-ha, that’s so cute!” I said.

Suddenly a bigger white dog jumped out of nowhere and started to bark at us. It was the mother. We screamed and ran as the mother chased us and I jumped over a bench but poor Avi got chased by the mother, but saved himself by diverting and dashing into the car park.

Since then I’ve always kept my distance from stray puppies in case the mother is lurking around the corner…

“I am an adventurous and curious person”

This incident happened a long time ago, when I was about four years old. This story actually proves that I’ve always been the curious type. Err.. more curious then than now, but still….

So, one day, little four year old me was painting and drawing and having a great time. When I was painting the beautiful scribbles, I had scattered on the page, I probably thought, “why does paint only go on paper?” and then I probably thought, “ What would happen if I paint myself?”. You’ve probably guessed what I did next ! Yup, I painted myself.

All reds, yellows and blues I was painting with, got all mixed up and created a muddy blackish-brown colour. I did this when there were no adults with me. Then I probably got scared that my mom would get mad at me. Then I decided that I would just go up to my family and see their reaction.

So, covered head-to-toe in paint, my four-year-old self bravely walked up to the living room and stood there. My mom was the first to notice me and instead of getting mad at me, she began to laugh loudly. Everyone turned to look at me and began to laugh. I was so relieved that they weren’t mad at me, I laughed with them as well. Then my mom took me and gave me a bath. From this, I realized that my curiosity and adventure leads me to try new things, puts me in big messes and sometimes even both.

So that is all the “proof” I have for you now that tells you how I am a person who likes to try new things through three pretty embarrassing stories. Being this type of person helped me discover so many new things about myself and the people around me. It helps me see things rom a different angle which me wriggle my way out of situations and most importantly makes me who I am.

Hope you enjoyed !! J

I am Organized by Aarushi Chaudhary

Many people don’t realize that organization is a great thing because it helps you keep things under control; it saves time and prevents you from forgetting things. I have found out that organization also leads to progress and success, and I think I am the kind of person who likes to be organized.

To start with, organization helps me keep up with everything, here’s one story from my life.
Dribble dribble drop, splashed the rain on my umbrella as I walked home form my bus stop. It had been raining since morning and the weather made the mood dull. On reaching home, I felt like playing outside but due to the rain I was unable to do so, hence I did my homework. After completing my work I remembered that we had just learned algebra in school and I was confused so I took out my books and pen and began practicing. This is one example in my life when I do my stuff in an organized manner so it helps me keep up with every thing.

In addition to that organization also helps me save time, up next is another story about how it helps me save time.
During the first week of summer vacation just before entering middle school, my mother bought me a few books to study a little for sixth grade and be a bit prepared. By later that evening I had misplaced almost half my books so I searched everywhere and after a long search I found them. So I cleared up an area, and allotted it for summer studies and kept all my books there. Now I don’t waste time searching for my books instead of studding but instead I finish my work fast and then go play. This way I save time.

At last organization prevents me from forgetting tings to be done, I shall prove this point in my next story.
“Aarushi remember to bring home your physics or chemistry books home to study,” said my mom” okay fi ne “ I replied, and left for school. The whole day went by while ridding the bus home I remembered that I had to bring home books to study but I forgot to. But my mom came up with a solution so I got a notebook and we sat and planed about which subject I was going to study, each day. This prevents me from forgetting my books. Now I never leave my book at school.

To conclude, organization helps me keep a head over everything, it saves time and stops me form forgetting any things.
