I Leave Things For The Last minute By ishaan Hinduja

Ishan Hinduja                                                                                                             Personal Essay 6C
Many people don't realize things about me. Some things that are so obvious nobody can see it, but I really do not pride myself on that I am the kind of person who does everything at the last moment when: I have a big project due, I have work to do, there are far away deadlines to meet. Why: There is only one thing to do. I am lazy. I don't feel like working until I realize I will get in trouble. So, here are a few examples.
1) One day I had to pick up my cousin-brother from America (Fernando) from the airport extremely early in the morning. My Mom woke me and my brother up (my sister did not want to go). So we got dressed and went downstairs to the car. When we saw him we all gave him a hug and then went to the car to go home. (I had completely forgotten about school that day.) When we got home we had 2 extra hours, so instead of sleeping we helped Fernando unpack, and we played games on his i-pad. Our driver was picking us up that day. When I had to go up for my shower it was 5 to 6:30, so I rushed up and had my shower and got in the car. We made it right before the bell. I realized that I should have my shower earlier rather than later. As I say this I realize that I should try and be more hygienic.
2) One day my Biology teacher gave the whole class a project that was due in a few weeks. In those few weeks I had completely forgotten about the project, so knowing me, I remembered about it at the last minute. I was panicking so much, but luckily my Mom and Dad calmed me down and told me to do it then. So at the end I finished the project and went to sleep at about 11:30. I realized that if I focused on my work I actually might have remembered to do it earlier. As I say this I realize that I should try and be less lazy.
3) One day my English teacher gave the whole class a worksheet but she gave me an extra one because my brother was absent (that I had to give him THAT Day!!!) When I got home I completely forgot about it so the next day during my English class he came and took it from me. I realized that I should get my brain checked. As I say this I realize that I should try and be less careless.
I realize that doing my work at the last minute makes me lazy and inconsiderate. Saying that I should really get my act together or else I will end up as a hobo living in a hole in the street with 28 cats wondering how it all happened.

I Am a very Picky Person By Aseem Singru

PERSONAL ESSAY -- ASEEM SINGRU (6A)

I have always found myself to be a picky person. I am very picky when it comes to food, mainly if there are vegetables in the dish, then theatre roles, if I don’t get an important character, and finally toilets, if I don’t approve of the condition or style of the toilet.

To start, there have been thousands of incidents when I don’t approve of the food because I have never tried it, or I don’t approve of the colour of the dish, or if there are vegetables in the dish. Here’s an example of this: My mom decided to give me a new dish for lunch which was green bell pepper and potato. I’ve always hated green vegetables the most because I think they’ll taste horrible. I wanted to eat the potato instead but my mom told me to eat the green bell pepper as well since it was more nutritious. When I eat something that I think wont taste good, I think I will puke and for that reason I feel puky when I eat that food. This same thing happened when I eat green bell pepper. My mom finished the leftovers because she didn’t want me to puke. As I say this I am realizing that thinking I was going to puke when I ate that vegetable shouldn’t have stopped me from getting the nutrition I needed.

In addition to this story here’s an experience when I was picky about a theatre role I got. I had gotten into the middle and senior school production acting group. But I immediately decided to leave acting since I had not gotten an important character. What I believed was that he audience would not remember my character. But my mom gave me some advice on why I should not leave acting. She told me that watching other kids act as well will help me learn some things from them and I would gain confidence on stage. I decided to stay and it turned out to be a good experience. What I learned from this experience is that “no role is too small’ and there is always something to learn from any experience, good or bad.

Finally, here’s a story about me being picky about the toilet in my house when I came to live in Bangalore. When I used the toilet in our house, I knew there was something wrong with the flush water: it was brown. According to my wacky imagination it was other people’s poop. Disgusted, I stopped using the bathroom in our house. When my mom noticed my new behaviour she asked me what the deal was. I told her exactly what had happened. She said the reason the flush water was brown was because sometimes mud got caught in the water while it was flowing underground and then dissolved in the water. I was pretty relieved by that fact. But I was still disgusted that the flush water was muddy. It is on very rare occasions that I don’t use the toilet when the flush water is very brown and smelly.  This experience has made me realize that holding your waste in your body just because the flush water was muddy is the worst thing to do, since it is harmful to your body.

To wrap up, my pickiness has been one of my greatest weaknesses since it has stopped me from getting good opportunities like stage opportunities and has harmed me in many ways like not eating my vegetables and not using the toilet because the water was muddy. Not being picky can change me as a person and I will get far in my life because I’ll be getting good opportunities and not reject them.

I am a Person Who Leaves things for the Last Minute by Nysa Yadav

PERSONAL ESSAY
I am so not like my mom; my mom is the kind of person who likes to do everything beforehand, while I’m the kind of person who leaves stuff for the last minute.
It’s a Friday and we have homework……LOTS!! But as the weekend just began I wasn’t in the mood to do my homework today. I was just lazing around the whole of Friday watching TV, going to play and reading my book. Before I knew it, it was Saturday morning and I was getting ready for my dance class, where I was reminded by my friend that it’s my best friends birthday  party!! Which I absolutely couldn’t miss!  I thought about my homework but I slyly just postponed it till Sunday. The party ended quite late, and when I came back home I quickly had my dinner and slept. Sunday morning my mom was working and she had told me to do my homework in her absence, but me being me, I just switched on the TV and started watching my favourite movie. Before I knew it I was having lunch with my mom. As I had just sat down to do my homework my cousins came! I had a lot of fun with them. But time flew too quickly! They left late AND I STILL HADN’T FINISHED MY HW!!! I ended up staying up till 12 to finish my homework. While I was doing my homework my hands were hurting my eyes were drooping and I was super tired!

We were going to Delhi the next day! And I still haven’t packed, I was just watching TV while my mom and dad were packing, they kept reminding me to pack, but I just kept postponing it. Soon it was dinner time, and then it struck me. I HADN’T PACKED!! But I still thought that there would be time for me to pack after dinner (that’s what I assumed). As I had my dinner I kept thinking that I would pack this and that I would pack that. After dinner when I finally went to my room to pack, I couldn’t seem to find ANYTHING!!
As I searched through my room for the things I needed I looked at the watch and saw that the time was literally FLYING……………..
10:30, 11:00, 11:15
Oh no!!
As I gathered everything I needed I had no more energy to do anything! I somehow managed to pack by 12. I had a headache and I was super tired. Going to bed that day was definitely the best thing that had happened to me throughout the day!

I have now realised that leaving work/stuff for the last minute isn’t going to help as I get tired and sleepy.

I Live by My Rules by Noor Dixit

Personal essay
I have always been told to  follow rules otherwise there will be consequences, but I have broken a lot of rules and major ones, however I have never ever faced the consequences and I find no shame in it because in life it is more important to live by your rules and in my case it’s NO rules! Soon enough I am going to tell you when I like to break rules.

I like to break rules when I am bored or when I have a lot of time on my hands and this story made me realize this.

It was my tenth birthday and I was having a sleepover with my two best friend Nysa and Arushi. We were obsessed with the ‘Dork Diaries’series and in the book she had Toilet Paper Capered her arch enemy’s house and we planned to do the same thing except with my arch enemy Saniya. We had all planned to stay up till 3am and we would do it any time in between 12am to 2:30am. We went at 1:30amand were done by 2am and well till this date nobody knows except you.

Another prove time I like to break rules is when I feel like taking revenge and this story proves it.

Me and my friends ran to the park for the swings .I got one and my other friend who I am going to call Nina for now got the other, only just then did a small boy called Appu come running demanding that one of us gave him the swing. Weboth replied no and he went crying home. After a while his mom came out and started shouting at us. After she was done we got so annoyed that we just got up and left, as we were walking we thought if taking revenge, but we decided to wait for two more weeks …finally we bought a carton of eggs and started throwing them at Appu’s house and no one knows until now [you know].

I also like to break rules when I know that I can get away with it and this is an example.

I was in second grade and my school [DPS] had just installed and on every fire alarm it would clearly be written ‘TRIPPING A FALSE FIRE ALRM IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE’ but the first thoughts that would come in my head were “oh yeah! Like they’re going to find out who did it” and this is when it came into my head “nobody is going to find out if I trip it” and I thought of when I would do it and which one. I decided and well I haven’t been arrested yet sooo….

A lot of people think that people are very lenient around me because I can get away with so much stuff, but I think that I’m just really good at breaking rules, at least as of now that’s what I think as of now, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see because even to me my life is just a guess.

How I Live My life By Neha Talla

How I Live My Life
– By Neha Talla 6A

Helping is great. Actually it’s a lot more than that. What people need to know is, helping people makes a better person. I am the type of person who appreciates it when someone is hurt/injured, scared or even when the other person really needs to be pushed to their limits. There have been multiple incidents when people helped me, and I still treasure them.

Through my fracture experience, (which was obviously memorable), best friend, specifically Nysa, was the hugest part of it. Grantedd that my community friends and school teachers helped, Nysa was the only thing that kept me sane. Being me, (A Hyper PSHCHO) staying bed-ridden for 2 months was not easy, but Nysa helped me through every bit of it. She called me almost every day to explain what happened at school, to break it all down in a way that I understood. She got my pain as if she were a part of me. Nysa was no friend to me, she was a sister. This shows me that anyone can be like her, anyone can be nice. Being supportive like she was just adds more sunshine to the world, sunshine we all very mush need. When you help someone that is scared is also a time where I appreciate kindness and helpfulness.

I had lost my family in a Singapore Mall, and I was trembling, so scared and fearful, and all my emotions were flowing out in the simple form of tears. My heart felt like 3000 kgs, and along with that, my life was in danger! It was raining, I was shivering, as I heard footsteps. “Are you OK? “ There were two people, (I guessed a couple), that were standing in front of me. My first thoughts were “Why in the world are they talking to me? Should I trust them? Strangers?” Soon they asked me to give them my mom’s number and I did because I decided to trust them as they were my only hope of finding my family as I was too scared to ask for help myself. They called my mom and then she was there. She thanked the a lot and told me, “Never be reluctant to help, it makes someone better.” I then realized that I had never been so grateful to anyone in my life before. Not only when someone is scared but also when someone needs to be pushed to their limits.

I’m very thankful to my 5th Grade class teacher – Vasundhara Ma’am. I am also thankful to my other teachers because when I was bed – ridden for 2 months, they sent me my work, despite the lengths they had to go to help me they did, and I respect them for that. They were so determined to keep me up-to-date with my class, and I needed it, I needed to be pushed to my limits. Later their ‘tough love’ really paid off as I had drastically improved my grades from my previous scores. I realized how much I look up to them because if they hadn’t had pushed me to keep studying at home, I wouldn’t be able to study as well and do that well in my Unit Tests.
In other words, I appreciate people who care for others, as they make a better person to be surrounded by there are people who are hurt/injured, need help when they are scared, or need to be given tough love, I hold a lot of respect for those who help these people as it’s the right thing to do.

I Hate being Proven Wrong by Ghazal Baweja

Many people do not realize the frustration in being proven wrong.  I, on the other hand, am just the kind of person who hates being proven wrong.  Usually, I get proven wrong when I’m with my friends, while playing a board game or when I’m discussing the rules of a game,.

As I was saying above, I get proven wrong when I’m with my friends. A few months ago, Advika and I had made a bet. A bet that I wouldn’t get more than her on the Biology exam. Now, just a few weeks ago, we got our marks. I read mine and she read hers. And just as I had suspected, Advika had gotten a little bit higher than me. Then she told me that I owed her something. I said that we never had a bet on this. So, we started arguing and………….. you get the point. That is one situation in which I got proven wrong.

Sometimes, I get proven wrong while playing or learning how to play a board game. Such as the time when my first grade class was learning to play chess. I said that pawns were supposed to move sideways and forward. Then, my friend said “No, they move forward but the kill diagonally.”
So we asked the teacher and he said that she was right. After that, I ran to the girls toilet and hid in one of the stalls, sulking. (I was six years old then, don’t judge me!)

When I am discussing the rules of a game with my friends, I don’t like feeling that I am wrong! One time, my friends and I were in the playground and we decided to play freeze tag. Suddenly my friend said that she knew exactly how to play. She told us that “ If you get tagged, someone else has to crawl under your legs to free you”.  “That is wrong!” I said.
“ In freeze tag you just have to tap the person to free them”. So we a vote on which way to play and I won. We all ended up playing my way happily while my other friend( the one who I was fighting with) stormd off home.

After remembering these life stories of mine, I am realizing that I must have acted quite mean in all these situations! Nowadays, I don’t have many fights with my friends about being proven wrong. I also get proven wrong when I’m going out to a restaurant, mall, vacation to another country, watching TV or something as random as that.

My personal essay

Sometimes people ask me how often I plan, honestly speaking never. I mean many people do plan but me NO! I am the kind of person who does not plan but leaves things for the last minute basically when I have to do homework, when I’m travelling and when I have to go to school. Honestly who likes homework? I hate homework. Who is this person who invented homework? I hate doing my homework but leave it for the last minute. We had to submit our physics project my project. The next day I woke up I remembered about my on Friday so on Thursday I was doing other stuff that I completely forgot about project and I told my mom that I forgot about my project. I started to cry. Finally my mom said that I could take a day of and finish my physics project. This reminds me of, last-last summer we were going to my grandparents’ house and me and my mom were packing our bags the night before. The next day before leaving I did not check my bag again because I thought that I had everything. When we reached there my stomach started hurting, so my mom said that she would check in my bag for my medicine, but she could not find it. My stomach started hurting a lot by now but I stayed calm. My mom started checking in her bag, inn my brothers bag and in my dad’s bag but she could not find it.I could not bear the pain anymore .Luckily my grandma had the same medicine. This brings me to I always pack my bag in the morning. Many times I forget my stuff at home. One day I forgot my math homework and my pencil pouch. When I was in the bus I realized that I left my homework and pouch on my table. I was really scared, my heart skipped a beat. When I reached school I saw that the first two periods were math I could not do anything. I had to borrow a pen from my friend. All of this brings me to realize that if I do things at the last moment there’s a lot of commotion and I become like a small mouse In front of the mighty Himalayas , mighty Mt. Everest
